Prof Dr Md Taufiqul Islam

Dr Md Taufiqul Islam (Mithil) is a Professor, and has been teaching at the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB). He received his bachelor and master’s degrees from the Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka. Later on, Prof. Dr. Taufiq was awarded the Japanese government scholarship. He got a second master’s from Shimane University in 2002, and a PhD from the Tottori University in 2005. In 2006-07, he was awarded postdoctoral fellowship program at the Asia Pacific Research Center, Kobe Gakuin University, Japan. Later, in 2007-09, he was awarded the JSPS fellowship at the Kyoto University, Japan.

Dr Taufiq was a USA State fellow in 2011. He was also a visiting fellow at the Kyoto University in 2012. He has several publications in various academic journals. Prof Dr Taufiq is an elected cultural secretary of the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB) since 2022. He is the founder of ADAREALO (Educational and Social Welfare Non-profit organization in Brahmanbaria), and also a founder board of trustee, University of Brahmanbaria. He is a life member of JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) Alumni Association in Bangladesh.

Dr Taufiq has been actively participated in numerous professional organizations across Bangladesh, USA, Thailand and Japan. He has taken leading role in organizing conferences, seminar, workshops, open-forums, interactive sessions and lecture series. He has been invited as a visiting professor, guest speaker, moderator and session chair in multiple professional societies.

Dr Taufiq believes that overseas degrees, research and intercultural communication experiences would work as essential elements in performing at any place in Bangladesh and International communities.
