PKSF Organizes a Seminar on ‘Equality and Inequality’

PKSF organized a seminar titled ‘Equality and Inequality’ on 29 January 2020 at PKSF Bhaban. Dr Selim Jahan, former Director, Department of Human Development Report and Poverty Alleviation Department, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) was the key speaker of the program. It was presided over by Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, Chairman, PKSF.

Mr Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, Managing Director, PKSF offered the welcome remarks. He identified inequality as a major hurdle to ensure sustainable development.        

Dr Selim Jahan noted that we should not confuse diversity with discrimination. He also focused on the multidimensional aspects of inequality. Dr Jahan emphasized on addressing inequality in all kinds of opportunities including education, healthcare and rights to justice.  

PKSF Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad asked to work together to eliminate inequality and ensure human dignity of the people, as reflected in the Declaration of Independence of Bangladesh.

University teachers, researchers, PKSF officials and representatives from various government and non-governmental organizations attended the seminar. The program became very lively and interactive with an open floor session.
