World Bank Virtual Mission meets the PKSF Managing Director
Mr. Christophe Crepin, Practice Manager, South Asia, Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy (ENB) had a virtual meeting with Mr. Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, Managing Director and Mr Md Fazlul Kader, Deputy Managing Director-1 of PKSF on 09 December 2020. Mr. Zahir Uddin Ahmed, Project Coordinator, Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP) PKSF. Ms. Suiko Yoshijima, Task Team Leader (TTL)-SEP, the World Bank; Mr. Iqbal Ahmed, Environmental Safeguards Specialist, the World Bank also took part in the virtual meeting.
The meeting discussed on a range of issues related to environmental concerns including policy implications of the Project, digital financing at the microenterprise level, technology transfer, use of e-commerce platform, scaling up microenterprises etc.
The PKSF Managing Director highlighted the prospects of large-scale employment generation in the microenterprise sector, that creates an increasing demand for fund. Mr. Fazlul Kader, Deputy Managing Director, PKSF stressed on the need for extended technical and financial support for scaling up microenterprise interventions to ensure the country’s overall development.
Mr. Crepin thanked the Managing Director of PKSF and expressed his satisfaction at the progress made under the SEP despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the World Bank highly values an accomplished partner like PKSF and looks forward to continuing the collaboration in future.
