PKSF increases financing by 45% in FY 2026-27 to accelerate decent employment creation

Prioritizing skills development, employment generation, and sustainable economic growth for low-income people, PKSF has approved a financing target of BDT 160 billion for FY 2026–27, representing a 45.34 per cent increase over the outgoing fiscal year. The budget and the annual work plan were approved at the meeting of PKSF’s General Body on 23 June 2026 at PKSF Bhaban-1 in Agargaon.
The meeting provided necessary directions for the effective utilization of the Bangladesh Bank incentive fund allocated for the development of the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) sector, which is expected to facilitate the disbursement of an additional BDT 50 billion. The meeting also emphasized microenterprise development, skills enhancement and productive employment generation. Alongside conventional financing, PKSF will strengthen sustainable employment and entrepreneurship through blended financing approaches combining skills development, innovation, debt finance and equity finance. Special emphasis will also be placed on the creative economy and climate adaptation initiatives. In the upcoming fiscal year, PKSF will focus not only on financing but also on developing skilled human resources and creating sustainable employment opportunities. Particular attention will be given to expanding skills training, entrepreneurship development and market linkage initiatives for youth, women and marginalized communities. At the same time, research activities supporting poverty reduction, skills development and employment generation will be further strengthened. These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to increasing productive employment and creating a more enabling environment for entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, a meeting of the PKSF Governing Body was also held. Both meetings were chaired by Zakir Ahmed Khan, Chairman of PKSF. PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader, Board Members Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Nurun Nahar, Farzanah Chowdhury and Prof Dr Md Taufiqul Islam participated in the meetings. In addition to the members of the Governing Body, members of the General Body were also present at the General Body meeting.
