Economists, development experts suggest necessary changes in PKSF working methods in view of changing realities

In order to sustainably reduce poverty in the country and ensure inclusive growth for low-income people, PKSF needs to bring about befitting changes to its operational strategy and design its interventions accordingly in light of the evolving socio-economic scenarios, technological advancement, poverty situation, and human needs. The economic, social, cultural, educational, health and infrastructural realities of the rural areas are no longer the same as they were when PKSF was established in 1990; therefore, it is necessary to bring about timely changes in the areas of interventions, scope of work, and working methods of this apex development organization.
These comments were made by the country’s top economists and development experts at a special meeting titled ‘PKSF Strategy 2030’ organized at the PKSF Bhaban in Agargaon today. The meeting was chaired by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan, and Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader delivered the welcome remarks.
In the meeting, important suggestions on PKSF’s future strategic approach were made by Policy Research Institute Chairman Dr Zaidi Sattar, Bangladesh Agricultural University’s Former Vice Chancellor Dr MA Sattar Mandal, InM Executive Director Dr Mustafa K Mujeri, World Bank Dhaka Office’s Former Lead Economist Zahid Hussain, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, BIDS Director General Dr AK Enamul Haque and Research Director Dr Kazi Iqbal, Economist Khondoker Bazlul Hoque, Planning Commission (General Economics Division) Member Dr Monzur Hossain, Sonali Bank Ltd Chairman Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Agrani Bank Ltd Chairman Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, Microcredit Regulatory Authority’s (MRA’s) Executive Vice Chairman Professor Dr Mohammed Helal Uddin, NGO Affairs Bureau Director General Md Daud Miah ndc, Researcher Dr Rushidan Islam Rahman, Financial Excellence Ltd Chairman Mamun Rashid, and Professor Dr Khaleda Islam of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Dhaka.
PKSF General Manager Dr AKM Nuruzzaman made a presentation titled ‘PKSF Strategy 2030: Financing the Goals for Inclusive Growth’ at the meeting.
