PKSF, JICA set to launch Cyclone Surokkha to safeguard coastal people
Top officials of PKSF and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met on 08 August 2022 to discuss on a new financial product to be launched to safeguard people living in coastal Bangladesh.
Following a cyclone, the intervention – named ‘Cyclone Surokkha’ – will provide emergency cash assistance to those who subscribe to it. This service will be provided under ‘The Project for developing Inclusive Risk Mitigation Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction (IRMP)’, implemented by PKSF with financial and technical support from JICA.
PKSF Managing Director Dr Nomita Halder ndc chaired the latest meeting held at PKSF Bhaban. Among others, Senior Deputy Managing Director Golam Touhid, Deputy Managing Directors Md Mashiar Rahman and Dr Tapash Kumar Biswas, and Senior General Manager Md Hasan Khaled were present at the meeting. From the JICA side, Dr Taisuke Tokuoka, Deputy Team Leader of IRMP, Takeshi Kuwabara, Insurance Expert of IRMP and other senior officials attended the meeting.
IRMP provides financial and non-financial services to the marginal people of climate change-related disaster-prone areas of Bangladesh through various Partner Organizations of PKSF.
