PKSF MD urges promoting microenterprise development for sustainable poverty reduction
PKSF Managing Director Dr Nomita Halder ndc urged promoting microenterprise development to ensure sustainable poverty reduction. She made this remark while visiting field-level activities of PKSF being implemented through its Partner Organizations (POs) in Kushtia and Chuadanga from 4-6 February 2024. PKSF’s Deputy General Manager Md. Humayun Kabir, Assistant General Manager Mohammad Mofazzal Karim and Manager Mamun Ur Rashid accompanied the MD during this visit. Besides, the Executive Directors and senior officials of the POs were also present.
Dr Halder inaugurated the ‘DESHA Agricultural Research Institute’ in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia on February 4. The same day she visited the ‘Alternative Crop Production and Generating Multiple IGAs Instead of Tobacco’ program being implemented through ‘DESHA Shechsashebi Artho – Samajik Unnyan O Manobik Kallyan Sangstha’ a PO of PKSF.
PKSF MD witnessed various microenterprise activities being implemented through ‘Shiropa Development Society’ and ‘SETU’, two POs of PKSF, in Kushtia on February 5. These activities include a cattle feed and poultry feed manufacturing factory, electric cable drum manufacturing plant, dairy product manufacturing, fashion garments etc. Then, Dr Halder visited a center for the elderly persons established under PKSF’s program for the elderly being implemented through ‘WAVE FOUNDATION’, another PO of PKSF, at Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga. In addition, the Managing Director also visited two separate training programs on ‘Life Skills Development’ organized in Kushtia under the RAISE project of PKSF through DESHA and Shiropa Development Society. There, she said that this training would play an important role in creating a positive attitude at the workplace.
The last day of the visit, on 06 February, Dr Nomita Halder ndc inaugurated a meat processing plant set up by WAVE FOUNDATION under the RMTP project of PKSF at Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district. The same day, she visited different activities of ‘Atmabiswas’, a PKSF PO, in Chuadanga. These include furniture manufacturing activities, and organic fertilizer production and marketing process. Then, PKSF MD inspected the activities of PKSF’s RAISE project being implemented through DBS, another PKSF PO, in Chuadanga.
During the visit, PKSF MD exchanged views with the Executive Directors and senior officers of the Partner Organizations.
