PKSF, ADB discuss financing in environment-friendly housing initiatives

A Consultation Mission of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with PKSF high officials on 11 August 2025 at the PKSF Bhaban to discuss on the proposed ‘Inclusive Affordable Housing Finance Project’. The ADB is a potential development partner of the proposed project.
PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader made the introductory remarks while Deputy Managing Director Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed gave the welcome speech in the meeting. General Manager Dr AKM Nuruzzaman presented on ‘Housing Loan Program Implemented by PKSF’.
Monica Mei V Carino-Young, Financial Sector Specialist and Mission leader, Finance Sector Office, and Mohammad Rashed Al Hasan, Senior Project Officer and Co-Mission Leader, SD3-FIN of ADB, spoke, among others, in the meeting.
In his speech, Md Fazlul Kader said improving the living standards of low-income communities would require increased financing for housing tailored to their need. He recommended replacing the traditional fired clay bricks with hollow concrete blocks for construction out of environmental concerns.
The ADB representatives emphasized on the importance of incorporating climate-resilient housing features into the project design.
Earlier, PKSF and the National Housing Authority (NHA) jointly implemented a project titled ‘Low Income Community Housing Support (LICHS) Project’. The project tested suitable models for housing microfinance that could be leveraged to meet the needs of the low-income communities in urban areas.
