PKSF Explores Collaborative Carbon Trading Solutions for Climate Action in Bangladesh
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) hosted a consultation meeting titled ‘Carbon Accounting: A Collaborative Approach for Project Development and Climate Action in Bangladesh’ on 21 March 2024 at PKSF Bhaban.
Dr Nomita Halder ndc, Managing Director of PKSF, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting PKSF’s unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable communities facing climate hardship. Dr Halder stated that PKSF stands beside the disadvantaged people of the country, particularly those most affected by climate change. “As the 7th most climate-vulnerable nation globally, adaptation assistance is not a grant, but a right owed to our people for the climatic adversities they face,” she added.
Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF gave a comprehensive presentation on carbon market mechanisms focusing on the progress of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and its potential in Bangladesh.
Dr AKM Nuruzzaman, General Manager of PKSF’s Environment and Climate Change Unit, presented on the unit’s ongoing climate change initiatives.
The meeting was participated from representatives from universities, research institutions including BRRI, BARI, BINA and mass media.
