Dr Nomita Halder ndc, Managing Director of PKSF met senior officials of of Japan International Cooperation (JICA) at its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan on 5 December 2023. 

The meeting was attended by among others, Dr Sugawara-Sato Suzuka, Senior Advisor (Poverty Alleviation/Financial Inclusion), Fujii Teruaki, Senior Deputy Director (South Asia Department), Mizoe Keiko, Senior Director (Governance and Peacebuilding Department), and Kunitake Takumi, Director (Governance and Peacebuilding Department) from the JICA; Md Fasiullah, Executive Vice Chairman of Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA); and Md Hasan Khaled, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF, and Salina Sharif, Deputy General Manager of PKSF.

They discussed the progress of the Project for Developing Inclusive Risk Mitigation Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction (IRMP) and its future plan. The JICA officials expressed satisfaction over the progress of the IRMP being implemented in the coastal areas of Bangladesh through seven Partner Organizations (POs) of PKSF with technical support from JICA.

The Managing Director of PKSF highlighted Bangladesh’s vulnerability to disasters and urged JICA to expand the project to other disaster-prone areas in Bangladesh.
