PKSF, Sonali Bank explore partnership to bridge financing gaps for microentrepreneurs

A PKSF team led by Deputy Managing Director Dr Akond Md Rafiqul Islam recently visited the Sonali Bank Head Office for a strategic dialogue to explore credit guarantee mechanisms for the country’s microenterprise sector.
PKSF is currently implementing the Microenterprise Financing and Credit Enhancement (MFCE) project, supported by the ADB, which includes a dedicated Credit Enhancement Scheme (CES) to bridge the funding gap for microenterprises. Through this scheme, PKSF provides credit guarantees to commercial banks, enabling Partner Organizations (POs) to access increased funding, and ensures disciplined fund utilization and timely repayment.
During the meeting, both parties explored synergistic opportunities to bring Sonali Bank’s bulk lending under PKSF’s supervisory framework to ensure the funds reach the last mile effectively.
The Chairman of Sonali Bank PLC, Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, lauded PKSF’s pivotal role in the institutional development of the letter’s POs and expressed strong interest in participating in the CES.
By leveraging PKSF’s intensive monitoring, this collaboration aims to streamline finance for microentrepreneurs.
