SEIP: Caregiving training gaining pace, thanks to growing demand
With the average life expectancy of people in Bangladesh rising, the number of elderly people is also on the rise. The need for caregiving, thus, is growing, both at home and abroad.
Against this backdrop, the Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) project of PKSF conducts training on caregiving for unemployed youths and ensures gainful employment for them.
As part of PKSF’s continuous efforts to render more effective services, a discussion meeting on “Revised Caregiving Business Plan” was organized at PKSF Bhaban on 05 June 2023. The CEO and Focal Persons from 20 training institutes were present in the meeting chaired by Md Ziauddin Iqbal, Senior General Manager (Program) & Chief Coordinator of SEIP, PKSF. He discussed about the purpose for revising the caregiving trade business plan, challenges for implementing the ongoing caregiving training programs, and the benefits of and insights on the revised business plan recently approved by SDCMU, Ministry of Finance.
Two presentations on the ongoing program and the revised business plan respectively were made to make the training institutes aware of the progress and changes/new addition in the business plan of the caregiving training program. In the open discussion session, the participants expressed their thoughtful views about the revised business plan and discussed the challenges and recommended ways out. Other officials of PKSF-SEIP project were also present in the meeting.
