PKSF receives Independence Award 2026

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has received the prestigious Independence Award 2026, the highest civilian honor of Bangladesh, in recognition of its outstanding and distinguished contributions at the national level. The award has been conferred for PKSF’s remarkable role in rural development.
The award was formally presented today at a ceremony held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium. The Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, handed over the award to PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan. This recognition reflects PKSF’s long-standing and tireless efforts in promoting rural development, generating employment, and advancing an inclusive economy.
PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader, Deputy Managing Directors AQM Golam Mawla and Dr Akond Md. Rafiqul Islam were also present on the occasion.
PKSF’s success is built upon the participation of its 21.6 million members, 93 percent of whom are women. Their resilience, initiative, and trust form the foundation of this achievement. Approximately 4 million micro-entrepreneurs have received financial and non-financial services from PKSF, collectively generating over 7 million employment opportunities, making a significant contribution to the national economy. The organization has also played a vital role in agricultural production, processing, and the development of market-based value chains.
Since its establishment in 1990 with the goal of reducing poverty through employment generation, PKSF has established itself as a leading development finance institution in Bangladesh. Through sustainable financing, social empowerment, and inclusive growth initiatives, PKSF continues to strengthen microfinance institutions nationwide and remains committed to building a prosperous, resilient, and equitable Bangladesh.
