PKSF celebrates 35th anniversary

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) today completed 35 years of its journey. To mark the occasion, the ‘PKSF Day 2025’ was celebrated at PKSF Bhaban-1 in Agargaon, Dhaka. The event was presided over by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan, with Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader delivering the welcome speech.
Zakir Ahmed Khan said that over the past three and a half decades, PKSF has made remarkable contributions to poverty alleviation through employment generation. Describing PKSF as a “beacon of inspiration” for institutions across Bangladesh, he noted that the institution has recently formulated its Strategic Plan 2025–2030 in response to emerging needs. The key objectives of this plan are to create decent employment, mitigate risks, and enhance capacities. He urged all PKSF officials to reiterate their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of this strategic plan at the field level.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Zakir Ahmed Khan expressed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh, international development partners, Partner Organizations, grassroots members, and all stakeholders of PKSF. He also reaffirmed his commitment to making PKSF and its Partner Organizations stronger and more effective in the days ahead.
In his welcome speech, Md Fazlul Kader reflected on the history of PKSF’s establishment, saying that the Government of Bangladesh established the institution in 1990 based on entirely indigenous concepts and considering the advice of Dr Muhammad Yunus. Over the past 35 years, PKSF has successfully implemented a wide range of programs aimed at sustainable poverty alleviation through the provision of capital, training, technological, and marketing support. He said, “According to the World Bank, we are the largest microenterprise-financier in the world. The Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund have accredited us as the National Implementing Entity, which stands as recognition of our effectiveness, transparency, and good governance practices. We have an esteemed reputation among international development partners.”
He said that under the visionary and prudent leadership of the PKSF Chairman, the institution has recently formulated its Strategic Plan. “Although this year’s anniversary is being observed in a humble manner, it holds deep significance,” he noted. “This year marks the beginning of the implementation of our Strategic Plan. We are hopeful that in 2030, upon the Plan’s successful completion, we will celebrate the anniversary in a grand manner.”
Among others, Deputy Managing Directors AQM Golam Mawla, Md Mashiar Rahman, Md Hasan Khaled, and Dr Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam spoke at the event. In addition, PKSF officials from all levels participated in an open discussion titled “Our Commitment”. Earlier, the anniversary celebration began with the release of pigeons and the cutting of a cake.
Currently, PKSF provides a wide range of financial and non-financial services to over 20 million low-income families across the country through more than 200 Partner Organizations. By 2030, PKSF aims to expand its outreach to 25 million households.
