PKSF MD urges expansion of microenterprises for sustainable poverty eradication
Dr Nomita Halder ndc, Managing Director of PKSF urged for the expansion of microenterprises to eradicate poverty sustainably. She made this remark while visiting various field level activities of PKSF being implemented through ‘Nabolok Parishad’, a Partner Organization of PKSF in Bagerhat district on 26-28 December 2023. During the visit, Dr Halder was accompanied by Kazi Rajeeb Iqbal, Executive Director of Nabolok Parishad.
During the visit, Dr Halder witnessed different income generating activities and microenterprises of the extreme poor project participants under the Pathways to Prosperity for Extremely Poor People-European Union (PPEPP-EU) project in Morelganj and Mongla upazilas. These activities include transportation of fish fries in oxygenated vans, grocery shop, fishing gears, mobile sales centers for fish and fisheries products and food processing business.
Furthermore, the Managing Director of PKSF also exchanged views with members of a Mother and Child Forum and a Social Development Center in separate meetings. There, she enjoyed a short drama on social development staged by adolescent girls. Dr Halder also visited a nutrition fair organized by adolescent girls, where she emphasized the importance of applying nutritional knowledge in their personal and family lives. In addition, she handed over various assistive materials (such as wheel chairs, crutches, hearing aids) to persons with disabilities.
