PKSF MD visits cyclone-resilient house in Khulna
Managing Director of PKSF Dr Nomita Halder ndc visited a cyclone-resilient house in Dacope Upazila of Khulna on 02 May 2024. Ad-Din Welfare Centre, a Partner Organization (PO) of PKSF, constructed the ‘model house’ under the Project for Developing Inclusive Risk Mitigation Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction (IRMP) project being implemented with technical support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
During the visit, she exchanged views on various aspects concerning construction of cyclone-resilient houses with the representatives of JICA and the PO. Besides, she visited a water desalination plant and one of the working areas of the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh (RHL) project. With a budget of about USD 50 million, this five-year project will work in seven coastal districts (Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, and Cox’s Bazar) of Bangladesh to increase the resilience and income of climate-vulnerable coastal communities and improve the livelihood of more than 350,000 beneficiaries.
PKSF’s General Body Member Gawher Nayeem Wahra and General Manager (Environment and Climate Change) Dr AKM Nuruzzaman accompanied the PKSF Managing Director during the visit.
