WB ‘overwhelmed’ by PKSF’s success in employment generation for youth
A World Bank (WB) delegation has praised PKSF’s project for creating employment opportunities for the youth from low-income communities in Bangladesh. “We are overwhelmed by the extent of the success of RAISE project. It is not only creating job opportunities for the youth but also helping them earn respect in their own communities” said the WB delegation.
The delegation visited the field-level interventions of the Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE) project in Rangpur and Dinajpur districts on 20 to 21 May 2024 under the ‘Environment and Social Standard 10 and Citizen Engagement Mission’.
The delegates also mentioned that the success of the project would not be possible without PKSF’s strong guidance and support to its Partner Organizations.
During the visit, the delegation participated in RAISE’s community outreach program and experience sharing meetings with the project participants.
The World Bank delegation included Senior Social Protection Economist and RAISE Project Task Team Leader Aneeka Rahman, Senior Social Development Specialist Kirti Nishan Chakma, Social Development Specialist Leena Kemppainen, Social Development Analyst Silvana Hill, Operations Consultant (Social Protection and Jobs) Nushin Subhan and Operations Consultant Masud Rana.
Also, the World Bank representatives in Bangladesh expressed their satisfaction over the implementation of RAISE project after visiting field-level activities of the project being implemented through Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) in Thakurgaon district, Mohila Bohumukhi Sikkha Kendra (MBSK) and Gram Bikash Kendra (GBK) in Dinajpur district, and RDRS Bangladesh in Rangpur district from 19 to 21 May 2024.
