Meeting on research scope between PKSF and RMIT University held
A virtual meeting on the collaboration for conducting research between PKSF and RMIT University, Australia was held on 26 April 2022. The purpose of the meeting was to explore the scopes of collaboration in research activities between PKSF and RMIT University. Dr Nomita Halder ndc, Managing Director, PKSF presided over the meeting.
Dr Shahadat Khan, Senior Lecturer, RMIT University delivered a power point presentation on a research titled “Green Climate Enabled Housing Using Inter-Familial International Remittances in Rural Bangladesh”. The research was developed jointly by RMIT University, Monash University, Central Queensland University and University of Dhaka.
Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director (Environment and Climate Change), PKSF and Dr. AKM Nuruzzaman, General Manager, PKSF attended the meeting among others.
Dr Khan, in his presentation shared the research findings on how the marginal population of rural Bangladesh spending a major share of their foreign remittances for building houses and its potentiality in future. He also pointed out the justifications of selecting PKSF and RMIT University for research collaboration.
In the open discussion, Dr Nomita Halder said some research activities on housing were on progress and would be finalized by the end of this year. Dr Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed presented the progress of ongoing and proposed projects of PKSF funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
In the meeting, Dr AKM Nuruzzaman presented the success stories and innovative interventions of Low Income Community Housing Support Project (LICHSP) of PKSF.
The meeting concluded with some way forward that includes: exploring scope of future cooperation between PKSF and RMIT University in the field of research. However, RMIT University and the consortium will bear the expenses in research activities.
